Soledad´s DNA

4 GENERATIONS INTERTWINED BY IDEALS OF FREEDOM, JUSTICE AND TRUTH

Adaptation of the original screenplay "By the light of dead stars" by Ñasaindy Barrett.

Based on real facts, the story describes the journey of four generations of the Barretts, a Latin American family with DNA marked by ideals of freedom, justice and truth. The saga is marked with painful losses like that of Soledad Barrett, tortured and brutally murdered in the authoritarian Brazil of 1973.

With a revolutionary legacy in its essence, the narrative goes beyond the reports of persecutions, arrests, torture, exile suffered by the Barretts, and seeks to report the family consequences and the human dimension, of how decisions and facts can influence a future generation and your ideals.

Routing, although metaphorically, will appropriate processes have used in genetic studies when analyzing the transmission of the characteristics of an organism to its descendants through heredity. Similar to the Chaos Theory and the Butterfly Effect, the feature of interactivity will make clear how attitudes and decisions of a great-grandfather journalist and anarchist; an Indian great-grandmother; a veteran grandfather of the Guerra del Chaco, professor and political activist was tortured several times; and as a father and mother fighting the dictatorial system in South America in the 1970s, they inevitably lead Ñasaindy to dedicate his life to the ideal truth. Reported with passages in Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil and Cuba, each character leaves genetic marks through his decisions.

To further engage the viewers during the episodes, the narrative will have interactivity feature, the viewer will be able to filter the timeline of each character or examine the causes and consequences of events jumping in time to another generation, in order to understand how an event, can deeply mark the future generation as in the butterfly effect. This exchange of cause and effect clarifies how a decision or episode triggers facts and behavior in another generation. Very similar to the experience of books with commented editions, to illustrate historical contexts, one can choose to consult existing documents with transmedia resources that prove facts and passages narrated, thanks to the rich historical material available.

An example of how the resources of both interactivity and transmedia can narrate a passage from Soledad's history, is when she was already exiled in Cuba, after Ñasaindy was born, in order to protect her from possible persecution, she decides to make two birth records , one with the real name of Soledad and José Maria as the biological parents, and a second record with a false name and affiliation. What Soledad did not imagine is that, after his death, his daughter would spend the first decades of her life as a child without identity, without ties and with complete ignorance of her roots.

Brought to Brazil, she could not, for example, attend a university due to difficulties in clearing her documents, thus reinforcing the unconscious and already genetic desire of truth.
